1915 — “A” Siege Battery was formed from the Royal Australian Garrison Artillery to serve in the AIF in Europe. This was the only Australian Permanent Military Force unit to serve in the AIF

1968 — Fire Support Base (FSB) BALMORAL was attacked by a North Vietnamese Army battalion. Three soldiers of 3 RAR were killed in the action and 14 wounded
