1943 — SHAGGY RIDGE operations began in New Guinea. Shaggy Ridge was a vital Japanese defensive position, and battles raged until 31st January 1944. The capture of Shaggy Ridge cleared the way to the North coast of New Guinea where the troops linked up with other Australians to complete the capture of the Huon Peninsula

1951 — LT A. (Bushy) PEMBROKE, 3 Company 3RAR, was awarded a Military Cross for his “bravery and cool planning” during the Battle of Maryang San, Korea

1971 — 3 RAR embarked in HMAS SYDNEY at VUNG TAU, Vietnam, to return home as Australia’s involvement in the Vietnam war wound down
