1917— HMA Ships Parramatta, Swan, Huon, Warrego, Yarra, and Torrens commenced operations to contain the Austro-Hungarian fleet in the Adriatic Sea. This operation was known as the OTRANTO BARRAGE.

1927— HMAS Adelaide sailors landed in the Solomon Islands to assist to restore order after an uprising resulted in the death of 16 Government officials.
