During a speech at the RAN Sea Power Conference on 8 October 2019, the Minister for Defence advised that Defence was reassessing the strategic foundation of the 2016 Defence White Paper to meet new threats, amid changing relationships between the USA and China, and the rapid development of new military technologies. The Minister also advised that a separate review was being undertaken to assess the ADF's responsiveness to these changing circumstances.
At a time when we are examining our defence planning, acquisition and force structure in light of these shifting circumstances, Peter Jennings, Executive Director of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute will undertake a thought-provoking presentation on the topic “Does Australia need a Plan B for its Defence policy?”
